Dream Big

On this coming Thursday, April 23, millions of workplaces in the nation will invite children into their business to celebrate Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day. In it's 22nd year, the Day exposes children to various careers paths and connects what they learn at school with the actual working world.

I was fortunate throughout my childhood to participate with my Mom and Dad. Here are some of Kid Allison's key takeaways:
  1. Finance professionals wear a lot of blue suits.
  2. My parents are smart and I actually feel cool walking around with them.
  3. I want to work in New York City (mission accomplished many years later).
  4. Enjoying your job looks fun and hard.
  5. Missing school to go to work is awesome.
Whether you are a parent, family member or friend, Frances and I encourage you to take part in Take Our Daughts and Sons to Work Day on Thursday. The official site has great activities to help businesses and schools participate.

It's good for all of us, no matter the age, to take time to ask the question, "What do I want to be when I grow up?" Help ignite that spark in a child's mind this week.
